1.     List all passages related to the character.

Use an exhaustive concordance.

2.     Observe – what does it say (read all the passages)

Survey the text to get an overview (Eccles. 1:13)

*We need to know what the Bible says…before we can understand what it means!

3.     Understand – get the facts, discover the meaning, research

Dig deeper to get a closer look (Ps. 119:27, Prov. 3:13)

Key Themes: {List the important themes in the person’s life}

Name Meaning: {Write the meaning of the character’s name}

Traits: {List the character’s traits, habits, etc.}

Key Chapter: {List a chapter that is important}

Key Verses: {List the verses}

Key Words: {List key words, verbs, etc. to study}

Key People: {List important people, friends, enemies, etc.}

Failures and Faults: {List the challenges in the character’s life}

Triumphs and Successes: {List them here}

Geography: {List the places the person lived}

Historical Background: {Write the ancestry, education, childhood background, etc.}

Great Crisis: {Is there a main challenge in this person’s life}

Other Resources: {Bible dictionaries, encyclopedias, translations, etc.}

Summary: {Write a summary of your study, make a chronological outline}
