Word Study Template

Observe|Understand|Apply

1.     List all verses containing the word.

Use an exhaustive concordance.

2.     Observe – what does it say (read all the verses)

Survey the text to get an overview (Eccles. 1:13)

*We need to know what the Bible says…before we can understand what it means!

Key Occurrences:

Who: {Who used this word?}

What: {What books is the word used in?}

Where: {Where was it used the most?}

When: {When was the first and last time used, number of times used?}

3.     Understand – get the facts, discover the meaning, research

Dig deeper to get a closer look (Ps. 119:27, Prov. 3:13)

Key Verses: {List the verses that contain an important truth, promise, command, etc.}

English Definition: {Write the definition here}

Original Language Definition: {Write the definition here}

Roots: {List the root words or origins}
